Longest. Rehearsal. EVER!

Belle

So yeah, the rehearsal for Belle’s 2006 dance recital seemed to go on forever. I think we were ready to attack each other right before we left. However, all’s well that ends well. To top it off I gave my camera a pretty good workout. I tried to not only get the white balance as close as possible but also color corrected the shots so there is some uniformity. The JPEG compressor for the gallery though added a little extra red into one of the pictures. If anyone wants any of those pictures in Camera RAW format email me and I can get them to you.

Aside from that I am ready for bed and ready for a break tomorrow. Hopefully either playing some Oblivion or going out. Right now though I’m going to bed so I can ride my bike to work in the morning.

‘night.

Friskance Bartholomeow “Friskie” Borgh 1994-2006

Our cat had to be put to sleep Saturday. We are very sad. As Heidi put it, she’s had him since she was 18 (it was actually 19 but I won’t correct her failing memory). We always called him Friskie (even though for half of his life he was incredibly overweight and anything but frisky), but I always figured had we given him a full name it would have been Friskance Bartholomeow Borgh.

Anyway, he was sick for literally the last half of his life (from 2000 on) but he always managed to get by. Friday he just couldn’t do it anymore, and we let him go Saturday.

I am pretty sure he was the only one between the two of us that actually enjoyed the 10ish hours I put into Grandia on the PlayStation. He would sit on the couch with me while I played it back in 2000. It probably helped that he couldn’t read and thus wasn’t insulted by the utterly childish storyline. He also enjoyed Bride of the Re-Animator.

RIP good friend. We miss you.

New pictures in the gallery

Scarlet in the Grass

Most are in Miscellaneous for now. A couple are in Lucy and Charlie.

Overall I am really enjoying the camera. I really need to learn more about how to use it to its fullest. Still a lot of wasted pictures, which I need to get down to a more reasonable amount.

Anyway, take a look and let me know what you think. The one I’m proudest of is the cat in the grass. turned out fairly well. Gets a little blurry when you blow it up to original size, but still would make a good 5×7 print with minimal blur on the cat…

TODAY really is the day!! :)

Well, apparently FedEx lost my camera on Monday. After much work on my end, they found it yesterday at around 6pm in Oakland, CA. According to the FedEx site it is now on its way for delivery to my house. Sigh……..

The good news is that TODAY I should have my camera, and TONIGHT I should have pictures to finally post once and for all. Apologies for talking about all of this for what seems like forever now. No more talking. As they say, a picture is worth 1000 words, and hopefully tonight I will have a few thousand words for you.

Finally.

UPDATE:

FINALLY!!

The camera is now at home waiting for me to take my first pictures with it. A long wait. But it should all be worth it!

1/3 of the way down

Also for a quick update, I am currently 1/2 of the way towards my goal. I am now down 10lbs., or to put a bit more perspective on it the lowest I’ve weighed in around 2-3 years.

20lbs. more to go. On track to lose it by the end of June.

The camera is on its way

I decided on the Digital Rebel XT. Amazon had it for a good price, and it really is the one I wanted between it and the Nikon D50.

Amazon is saying it should be here by a week from monday, though I’m hoping it gets here sooner. As soon as I get it, expect a post about it as well as (finally!) some new pictures in the gallery.
