It takes 1000 miles…

So here I am sitting in a hotel in Springfield, OH watching One Tree Hill (because it happened to be on the channel I flipped on) wondering what to do.. and it occured to me I haven’t updated my site in a while. ok…. that was a lie.. It actually occurred to me well before this, but what can I say, “busy” is just a state of life for me at this moment. I have semi-permanently opened up my site. It still isn’t real, but I figure I can at least start generating some web spider traffic on it at this point. My site design is getting close to finalized; at least I am pleased with it where it’s at and just have to finish accomodating the rest of the site to the new design. I received my first shipment of books in today, and will hopefully have the site design done by this weekend so I can get my first actual inventory entered in by monday. heidi (my first employee… well, co-owner) is the one who actually picked up the books from UPS and just went over incoming inventory with me.

outside of the store, which at this point has now become self-evident, belle starts school in a mere 2.5 weeks. 5K, the good stuff. We bought new fish. 4 Oreochromis, 1 fuelronni (sp?) and 3 demonasi (sp?). well, the one dick fish (fuelronni) has decided to terrorize the entire tank. he tries eating the demonasi and cory catfish, both species of which are much faster than him, so not a big deal. the oreochromis on the other hand, are just getting their asses kicked on an hourly basis. at this point we realize that one of the groups has to be removed.. either the oreos or the fuel… which one is the question. the fuel is the obvious choice… being the ASSHOLE and all.. but the oreos are worth more in credit and are nowhere near as beautiful as the fuel… so who knows.

umm.. aside from that, I don’t know. one tree hill is over now (not a good show at all.. well, I’ve seen worse) and now Friends is on. always a classic show. like an episode or two after ross called out rachel’s name at his wedding to emily. sad that I remember all of this, but it’s Friends.

Good night world, and hopefully we’ll talk again sooner than 30 days from now.

Not enough time left in the day

Man.. recently it feels like when I leave one job I just head right to the next and then the next and then the next and so on. There are currently many things going on, almost too many to cover.

Where to begin. The fish tank has a serious diatom problem. Diatoms essentially look like brown algae, but aren’t algae. I have been told by many people that it is a normal process of cycling the tank, but in the meantime it looks awful. If I actually had time this weekend I would clean at least the glass of the tank, though where I’ll get that time rom is beyond me. In the meantime I figure I’ll give it another week or so before throwing in the towel and just cleaning it. Maybe it’ll be cycled by then and take care of itself on its own.

Annie is doing wonderful. She is potty trained now (haven’t had an accident in over a week) and is just a wonderful dog. Her and I had to grow to love each other, but we have and I look forward to laying down on the couch after a long day and her jumping right on top of me and laying down right on my chest. Charlie and Lucy have never done that. Charlie prefers to lay off some place on his own where he can stretch out. Lucy wants to be nestled in between your legs. So it all works out. She hasn’t grown that much so far, so how big tall she will end up is still anyone’s guess.

Yeah, these are actually all the updates you get at this very second. I plan on making some more before I go to bed. Some very big news in there as well as my thoughts on Superman Returns.

Where no fish has gone before

Longfin Zebra Danios
The New Tank

So I uploaded these two pictures of my fish I got last week. The red eye tetra should be obvious to tell apart from the longfin zebra danio. The tank is going steady. Will try to get to Quatics Unlimited tomorrow or so to get my water tested and no where along in the cycle I am.

Still undetermined about what kind of community I want, though at this point I have no choice but to have an active one. The 10 fish in the tank are psychotic. Very fast moving never slowing down. Occassionally I’ll catch one hiding in one of the caves from everyone else, probably for some peace and quiet. But when you feed them.. yeesh. Keep your fingers away from the water indeed.

My newest “new” thing

So last week I setup my fish tank. A 45 gallon tank from All-Glass Aquarium. It has been cycling now for a week. We originally started with 2 fancy guppies that Brian had given us. This weekend we added 4 Longfin Zebra Danios and 4 Red-Eye Tetras. Pictures will be up sometime tonight of all of the fish as well as the tank setup itself. There is already a picture in the gallery from last week with no fish, though the background on there is old and, well, there are no fish.

The existing Betta we had was put into Belle’s room. He is living very happily there right now. We didn’t want to put him in the big tank out of fear of the more aggressive fish (particularly the Danios) nipping at his flowing fins.

Anywho, check back in a while for pictures.
